We would like to congratulate The Hadnott Family on their expected arrival.  "Kalarama's Mayflower Spirit" is in foal to KSF Ribbon winner "Monaco."  What will the foal look like? Congratulations! The farms first artificial insemination ever was a success! Special thanks to the DeHart Family of Hart-to-Hart Stables in Finchville, KY for their expertise.  And a very special thank you to Amy Haller of Royale Farms in Valencia, PA for your support, advice, and continued encouragement for this breeding.  "Monaco" is magnificent! Last, but certainly not least, we are very grateful to our vet, Dr. Cole Younger, for his services and help in making this a success!

August 18:
Lots of excitement at the barn these days!  Stacey has spent some training time on Glen's Paso/Saddlebred filly, "Velvet."  She has enjoyed the time on this filly as much as “Velvet” has enjoyed the attention.  Everyone comes to the ring to watch this filly work.  Alicia has her 2 year old filly under saddle and working well.  They will debut under saddle in Williamston at the Sunnyside Horse Show.  Dawn Diven is busy working her new weanling filly "New York’s Sexiest Event."   Stephanie and Dawn are headed to the State Championships with this nice filly, and then on to the Sunnyside show in Williamston.  Kaitlyn and Megan are busy working their new mounts for 2011.  Megan will be riding “Brass Keepsake” next year! We look forward to seeing “Brass” back in the show ring.  Jennifer is staying busy getting her two colts ready for the State Championships, as well as getting the riding horses ready for Sunnyside.  Cynthia is getting “CHF Hearts Desired Event” ready for her debut in September, as well as her miniatures.  Stephanie and Cynthia are busy lining up the horses to go to the Wilson County Fair for a week-long exhibit.  Last but certainly not least, little 7 month old  Emily is busy trying to decide if she is going to ride huntseat, saddleseat, or western in leadline next year! (If she is like her mom, she will do well in any seat!)

August 7:

It was a great day for Sundance Riders at the Bits and Boots fun show.  We had 8 riders go and compete at the bits and boots show! Our first big class was Costume with 10 entries. We were so excited when Mason received 4th in that class of very good costumes and tough competition.  We aced the Lead Line class with Megan Greiner taking 1st, Caden Diven taking 2nd, and Jade Brewer taking 6th.  The Walk-Only class had three times the entries we are used to at Tri-County shows, with 16 entries.  We were so glad to see our riders in the top 6. Gayle Jones took 6th in that class riding "Drambouie," Jade Brewer took 5th on "Lucky", and Mason Diven took 3rd riding “KC Kamen.” Gayle also won a nice 2nd place out of about 16 entries in the Beginner Walk-Trot, with Megan Greiner taking a first place on Aunt Stacey's Saddlebred mare, "Kalarama’s Mayflower Spirit." All of our riders did a great job in that class. Later in the day, Kaitlyn Lapointe stepped away from the beginner/starter classes, and moved into the 12 and under and 17 and under classes.   Although she started out a little rough, with "Mayflower" ready to strut her stuff, they finally came together taking a nice 2nd in the Open Go As You Please.  Congratulations to Jennifer and Chris for their first place win in the Baby Bottle class.  All-in-all, it was a great day for Sundance! We had fun!!!

June 24:
The Bits and Boots Fun Show is scheduled for August 7th @ 4pm. Hopefully as the evening comes it will cool off.  We need all students to make all their lessons so we will be ready for this show! We only have 5 weeks to get ready! There are a lot of classes to practice for.  You do not have to be a member of the club to participate in this event.  So start thinking of your costumes and making lessons regularly! Discounted hauling fees apply for this fun show. Classes are $6 per class.  The saddle club is asking for pre-registration.  Cynthia has the forms. We would like for all Sundance Riders to participate in this show.  It is truly an evening of fun and great competition. Contact Cynthia with your questions.  We will help outfit you for this show! Check with Jennifer, Stacey, or Cynthia to find out who you are showing and in what classes. This is one of our favorite shows of the season. So much fun, and fellowship at a very informal show.  We will need a trailer headcount by the 6th of July.

Willis and "Cee Beau Honey Bee," and Stacey with "Shadow on the Sun" entered their dappled beauties in the "Most Colorful" class.  The class had nearly 20 entries of beautifully marked horses and ponies.  But they were no match for our two! Will and "Honey Bee" came in 1st place, and Stacey with "Shadow" followed in 2nd place! Alicia and "In the Event of Chaos" won their halter class.  Willis and "Cee Beau Honey Bee" won their halter class as well.  They both went on to compete amongst other "2 and under" finalist in the Championship class, where Willis and "Honey Bee" won the Championship, and Alicia and "Eve" taking Reserve Champion!!! The winning didn't stop there! Sundance horses 3 and over showed in halter next.  Stephanie and "Blue Attitude" won their halter class, with Jennifer and "Celestial Design" coming in 2nd place.  Stacey and "Shadow on the Sun" won the geldings class, with Paula and "Class A Hazmat" earning 2nd place.  All four of our 3 and over horses went on to compete in the Championship halter class, where Stacey and "Shadow" earned Reserve Halter Champion! Sundance horses were the ones to watch at the East Coast Open Horse Show this weekend!  We hauled 10 horses to this show! While the family was together on Stephanie and Dave's visit to NC, they took time to enjoy an afternoon at Rock'n M Ranch owned by, Terry and Donna Milligan in Aventon.   The trails were beautiful!! We had so much fun! And boy are we all out of shape! Randy had so much fun...he is looking for a new pair of cowboy boots.  Dave found his new love "Drambouie."  Drambouie stood perfectly still as the saddle slipped all the way under her, and Dave fell off.  Who tightened your saddle Dave? (my mother-in-law--Cynthia!) Lots of laughter and memories of the ride at Rock'n M Ranch. We enjoyed riding with the landowners and appreciated the opportunity to ride with family and friends! Thanks Terry and Donna, we had a blast!

Attention Sundance Students:
Lessons that were scheduled for February 13th, have been rescheduled for Sunday, February 14th due to Cynthia directing the coggins clinic in Edgecombe County.  Lessons will be held in the same time slots, just moved to Sunday.  Also, the following weekend, lessons will be moved from the 20th to the 21st due to Cynthia's obligation to the Saddle Club.  We hope warmer and drier weather is headed our way.  If you have any questions about your lesson schedule, please call or email Cynthia.
Our first show is only a few weeks away, and we ALL need to be shining our boots, cleaning our tack, and getting in as many lessons as our horses (and Cynthia) will tolerate.

December 26:
It is with the greatest of sorrow that we announce:  Tonight we lost one of the greatest American Saddlebred Horses we have ever owned.  At 20 years old, our beloved "Rocky Top" had to be laid to rest.  "Rocky Top" was the kindest of the breed, teaching many students to ride and being an excellent horse in every aspect.  His charming personality and never-ending will to go on will forever be in our hearts.   He was family.  We are deeply saddened by our loss, and we will never forget this amazing gelding.

November 20:  **Attention Sundance Students**
We will not be having lessons on November 21st.  We will have lessons on Nov. 28th.  December 19th will be the last lesson of the year in 2009.  Lessons will resume in 2010 on January 9th.  Please continue to check the website for updates, as well as for information on the 2010 Show Season, and trail rides.  We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas.  (Ask Santa for a horse! :D )

November 14:
The damp weather didn’t deter Sundance riders for the Fun Day on Cactus Hill Farms! We had a great group of people there today.  The adult riders worked on their hands and diagonals. They worked on passing each other and working together.  The Under 18 group lesson worked very well together.  Our Leadline Students did everything like the big kids, and all received blue ribbons for their participation.  We appreciate the support of Jennifer Lane, Jennifer Overman, Alicia, and Tricia for their help with the young riders.  Additionally, we want to thank Toby and Heather for cooking and Stacey Hadnott for her amusing pictures from the event.  Connie, we appreciate your help with musical haybags! What a “FUN DAY” at the farm! Cynthia, thanks for engaging the parents and students in a fun-filled day of horseback exercises, as well as coordinating the efforts for a successful day of entertainment!

Labor Day brought rain with it.  As we took a break under the new observation deck at the farm, we noticed the dogs enjoying a nice nap as they kept dry.

September 6:
Dawn Diven's two young boys have become quite the horsemen.  Pictured below is her youngest son, Caden taking his first riding lesson on "Dee Dee."  He learned leg turns and so much more today.  He REALLY seemed to enjoy riding.  We look forward to seeing him progress and enter the show ring next year.  Nice going Caden!

September 3:
Sundance Stables welcomes "Drambouie," a Hanoverian/Thoroughbred mare! We would like to thank Hidden Springs Farm for this WONDERFUL mare.  Jean Joyner owned "Drambouie" for many years.  The mare has taught many people to ride and is a delight to work around.  On her first outing, here at her new home, Tricia Barnes showed her the farm, and even took her on a short trail ride.  She is a neat horse, and we are proud to have her.

July 25:
Driving Days are back at Sundance! We began training Joe, Silverada, and Chopper to pull a cart.  They were very willing to learn, and will be fine driving horses! Look at our progress:

July 24-26:

July 20-23:
The family went on a much-needed vacation at the beach.  We swam in the ocean, built sand castles, went to the aquariam -- to check out the head sets on those sea horses, and really relaxed! It was nice to get away for a bit to spend time with each other and visit.  We talked horses, of course, but tried to just talk about our own lives and what is going on and dabble in the planning phases of our next show or project.  Thank you Jennifer and Dawn!! You made it possible by caring for the horses and dogs while we were gone.  Here are a few of the shots we took:

On Saturday night, Stephanie and Stacey showed our favorite American Miniature Horses, "Smoke-N-Joe" and "Silverada Chaos," taking a 3rd and 4th respectively.  Then, Willis Richardson's "Cee Beau Honey Bee," our all-time favorite Palomino filly, took first place in Halter Fillies Two and Under, then went on to take the Reserve Championship Trophy and Ribbons for the 2 & Under Halter Division.  Willis also showed his Quarter Horse gelding, "Cee Taquiza Sin," in halter and took a 5th place out of 16 horses.  But NO HORSE or PONY were any competition for Stephanie and her American Saddlebred mare, "Blue Attitude," in the halter division.  After winning the mares 3 & Over Halter Class, Stephanie set her up in the Championship class and STOLE the show! They won the Halter Championship! Very nice horsemanship Stephanie! On Sunday, Stacey followed Jennifer's every ribbon, placing behind her in her three classes.  "Hammer" is well on his way to becoming a HUGE part of our Show String.  I would like to thank three individuals who made GREAT grooms at this show! Jennifer, Stephanie and Kim: "We couldn't have done it without you! Thanks so much for your hard work!"  Take a look at a few of the pictures from the show:

Sundance Students and friends enjoyed an evening of fun at the 6th annual Bits and Boots Horse show June 6th.  "Sandie's Smoke N Joe" started our day off with a win in the Pony Halter class.  Then "K.C. Kamen" and Tricia Barnes made their debut in Horses at Halter and won that class. Kaitlyn Lapointe won the Leadline class and the Assisted Walk- Trot class on her new mount "Kalarama's Mayflowers Spirit".  Taylor walker won the Walk Only class, and took a good second in the Costume class with her new mount "Princess."  Stacey and Tricia, as well as Jennifer and Jamie, had lots of laughs in the Baby Bottle class.  I guess they weren't too thirsty because we didn't win it. Megan Greiner had fun with her miniature "Silverada Chaos" taking a nice 3rd in Pony halter. Megan went on to win the Stick Horse Race.  Great evening of fun!  Good job!!!!!

WOW! Another successful show for Sundance Stables.  Our show string was a HIT at the April East Coast Open Horse Show.  Jennifer and her mare, "Celestial Design," stole the Halter Division.  At first she won 1st in mares 3 & over.  Then, she went on to the Championship class and won out of a nice class of horses! Pictured below is "Celestial Design" with her winning ribbons and trophies.  Stacey and her gelding, "Shadow On The Sun," took 1st place in the halter for geldings 3 & over.  She, too, went on to compete in the Championship Halter class.  Falling short of reserve, she and "Shadow" took 3rd place.  Then, they won the Saddleseat Go As You Please class out of a HUGE class! They went on to earn 2nd place in the American Saddlebred Go As You Please AND 2nd in the Country Pleasure Go As You Please.  CONGRATULATIONS! Our American Miniature Stallion, "Sandies Smoke-N-Joe," was shown in the Most Colorful Class, where he placed 3rd out of a nice class of 10+ entries..."Shadow On The Sun" took 2nd in that class.  In close, Stacey Hadnott and "Shadow On The Sun" won Reserve Highpoint in the Saddleseat division for the entire weekend! We've made an addition to our horse family:  Welcome KC Kamen! Kamen is a registered, bay Arabian.  He has already made his home at Sundance and been ridden by three of our students who have fallen in love with this gentleman.  We want to thank Wildwynn Stables out of Youngsville, NC for the opportunity to add such a wonderful gelding to our farm.

11/29-11/30

Jennifer, on a last minute decision, decided to take Celestial Design to the Mid-Atlantic Championship Horse Show in Williamston, NC.  Support was scarce because our team was finished showing for the year.  Luckily, Stacey agreed to go along to help.  She was a HUGE help! Jennifer and Celeste finished the year with a bang! On Saturday, Celeste took one blue ribbon.  Sunday brought on the Championship classes, where they took 1st place in the Saddleseat Championship riders 18 & over, and went on to earn Reserve Champion in the Supreme Championships. Way to go Jennifer, Celester, and Stacey! Thank you Stacey for all of the hard work, support, and videography.  Pictured below are Jennifer and Celeste with the Ribbons, Neck Sashes, and Rose Garlands.  Congratulations!!

It's been said that when one gets horses in their blood, they cannot rid themselves of the passion for the animals.  With that being said, we would like to say "WELCOME BACK!" to Tricia Barnes.  She rode with us for a few years before finishing school and starting a family.  Now, she's back in the saddle again...quite literally! Here are some pictures of her riding "Starlight and Memories," also known as "Misty."  Welcome to Saddleseat, Tricia! ;D

Everyone should mark your calendar for the Tri co awards dinner December 14th at the Ag Center in Nashville.

Sundance had another great show in Halifax,on Oct. 11th. It took Jennifer and "Celeste" a while to get warmed up but once they did, they  were a sight to see.  Dylan got his hands still and had a good ride on "Dee Dee".  Stacey enjoyed a day with "Mayflower" Megan rode well in leadline never once touching the saddle.  Kaitlyn and Brass parted ways in the walk trot class,  However,  we are sure that "Brass" learned something from it...............SUNDANCE RIDERS ALWAYS GET BACK ON!!!

The Tri co double pointed show on Oct. 4th was definitely interesting. Two judges and two different opinions.  However,  Sundance still won a few blues, and gained numerous points!!!!!

What preparations we went through for the East Coast Open Show in Williamston Sept 26-28! We changed barn colors and took 13 horses and ponies.  We had a great time and a great show! Our young riders did well.  Taylor showed her miniature, "Bogart," in a huge class of 12 miniatures, and took 8th in their first big show.  Also, in the miniature halter, Stephanie exhibited "Silverada," Cynthia's miniature.  They won first place in that big class! Congratulations! The Walk Trot for Interim Riders was great! Watching Kaitlyn and Dylan finally riding on their own at a big show was breath-taking! Kaitlyn won the class with her Hackney pony "Brass Keepsake," while Dylan pulled a fourth place ribbon on his mare "Destas Dixie Dottie."  Great job you two!! On Friday, Jennifer won the Saddleseat Halter Class with "Celestial Design."  Stephanie and Stacey were right behind her, pulling second and fourth place with "Blue Attitude" and "Shadow On The Sun," respectively.  We were so proud to watch Stacey and "Shadow" win the Amatuer Owned and Trained Class.  Her big gray gelding took more great ribbons throughout the weekend.  Stephanie and "Blue" won the 3 Year Old Mare-Saddle Pleasure Type Class out of 9 entries! They went on to take Reserve Champion in the Mares Overall Championship Class.  They won the Park Class on Saturday having a near-perfect ride.  Congratulations! Jamie Hardison and her Saddlebred mare "Unabashed" took home more blue ribbons this weekend! They went on to win the Saddleseat Go As You Please Championship Class on Sunday.  Also, Jamie showed her two year old bay Saddlebred filly, "Mercedes," in the training class.  Way To GO! Willis showed his yearling filly in the Working Western Mares Class and took 5th place out of a very nice class of eight aged mares.  We wish him luck at the State Fair! Trish and David brought her nice mare, "Blue Suede Cruise," and showed with us.  We enjoyed having you two.  Many thanks to EVERYONE for their support and help with this show!

On the 20th, Sundance students brought home many ribbons at the Smithfield Tri-County Horse Show.  It was so much fun to have Stephanie with us at that one day show.  She was busy working her 3 year old Saddlebred mare, "Blue Attitude," to get a little more show time prior to the show in Williamston.  What a great job Kaitlyn did on Aunt Stacey's 16hh Saddlebred mare, "Red Hat Lady," in the Lead Line Class...winning first place! Congratulations to Stacey for also taking a first place on that mare.  Jennifer took a great second place that day on her big Saddlebred mare, "Celestial Design."  Congratulations to Dylan for taking second place in the Walk Only Class.  Megan sure enjoyed a change, riding her sister's Hackney pony, "Brass Keepsake."  We all had so much fun!

September has been a busy month! On the 17th, Jennifer and Stacey showed their yearlings, taking good ribbons, at the NC State Championship Horse Show.  Pictured on the right is Stacey's Saddlebred colt.

Wow!!! What a turn out for the Bits 'N Boots Horse Show on July 26th!!!! Taylor and "Bogart" really came together for their first show, taking a first place in the Miniature Halter class. They looked sharp!!! They brought tears to more than one eye. She also won the costume class with her pony "Gin".  We experienced more excitement when her little brother, Jacob, won the 4 and under Crawl Through the Barrel class. We were surprised and happy to see Kaitlyn and "Brass" try the Short-Stirrup class.  Kaitlyn's presence and seat were the best...now if she can just do that at the Tri-County show in a couple of weeks. Kaitlyn went on to win the lead line class that day.  Of course there was nothing cuter than Megan and her tiny miniature "Silverada." Their size and suitability were great. Megan made much improvement at this show. Stacey won the halter class with "Shadow," while Willis and "Taquiza" pulled in second. Jennifer and Mike won the Baby Bottle class. And Stacey and Jennifer came in a close second in the Pairs class.
WAY TO GO SUNDANCE STUDENTS!!!! WILLIAMSTON HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

07/19-07/20/2008
The July East Coast Open Show was successful for the team! Stacey and
"Shadow" won first in Saddleseat Halter, with Jennifer and "Celeste" coming
in second, and Stephanie and "Blue" pulling in third.  We had three Saddlebreds
in the ring and pulled the TOP THREE ribbons! WAY TO GO! Stephanie and "Blue"
went on to win the Mares 3 and Over Halter class for Saddle Pleasure Type
horses.  To top it all off, Stephanie showed "Taquiza," Willis Richardson's eight
year old Quarter Horse gelding, in the Working Western Conformation class.  They
WON first place out of a NICE class of 10.  Also, Jamie Hardison and "Unabashed," also
known as "Annie," won FIRST PLACE out of a very nice class of 10 in the Saddleseat
Go As You Please Class on Sunday.  What a GREAT JOB!!! I want to take the time
to recognize the hard work and efforts that this team puts forth at shows.  It's quite
difficult to get all of the horses into the show ring(s) by their respective show times.
All is due to the number of horses we take to the show.  I want to thank the team for ALWAYS pulling together for each other.  Your help is greatly appreciated, as is the teamwork.  THANKS!

06/28/2008
The Sundance Stables cheering section hit an all time LOUD!! In the starter
division at the Tri-County double pointed show at Cedar Rock Horse Center
on June 28th. Family and friends showed true team spirit for all Sundance
exhibitors!!! A special thanks to Dylan and his family. It was hot but we
had a great show. Staying in the top ribbons most of the day "RED HAT LADY"
SHOULD BE CALLED RED HOT LADY because she was hot all day! Kaitlyn did
well in lead line and walk only staying in the top ribbons. But Dylan saved the
day in the walk trot class, moving ahead of Kaitlyn's points at the double
pointed show. We look forward to changes at the August show for our youngest
rider Megan! We were all most proud of "Rocky Top " with his third place
ribbon out of so many good horses.(He wants to come out of retirement and
show "Shadow" a thing or two.) We were glad to see Jennifer and her mare
"Celestial Design" at another outdoor show. The Saddleseat Division was very
competitive.  They also had a great day! Here are some pictures from the show.

06/21-06/22/2008

Thrills and Spills at the Tri co show held June 14th at WJ stables, in Nashville.
Kaitlyn and "Brass" parted ways in the walk trot class that day.  But Dylan and
his horse "Dee Dee" were stuck like glue bringing in a third place ribbon in that
class.
Willis spent a lot of time tuning up his showmanship with his big
bay gelding, "Taquiza."  Then, he worked "CB," his yearling AQHA
filly to prepare for the Halter Class at the East Coast Horse Show
on June 22nd and for the 5th Annual Bits-N-Boots Horse Show in
July.
Taylor has made much progress with "Bogart," her American
Miniature colt, and will debut the team at the 5th Annual Bits-N-Boots
Horse Show in July.  Be there to cheer her on!
Jacob, our 2 year old prospective riding student, had the opportunity
to trot (with the assistance of Jennifer) while hurrying to crawl
through the barrel in efforts to prepare him for the "Crawl Through
The Barrel" class at the 5th Annual Bits-N-Boots Horse Show in July.
Way to GO Jacob!
